Antique Victorian James Shaw & Fisher Biscuit Barrel c.1872–1894 Missing Lid
Biscuit Barrel
A beautifully decorated Victorian silver-plated biscuit barrel by the Sheffield firm James Shaw & Fisher, dating to approximately 1872–1894.
This elegant piece features finely embossed geometric and scrolling decoration, an attractive floral border around the rim, and distinctive angular side handles typical of high-quality Victorian silver plate. The base is stamped with the James Shaw & Fisher trademark (S with crossed arrows F inside an oval), along with the pattern number 9722.
The original lid is no longer present, but the barrel remains an impressive decorative antique. It would make an attractive display piece, planter (with a liner), vase, or addition to a collection of Victorian silver plate.
